Is there a new epidemic? Not really, just ask any talented stripper. Note that I don't like strip clubs! They're pointless in my book, but that is another story. You can thank my good friend Trap Music for helping turn twerking into a  mainstream dance form! Like it or not it was bound to happen, we just didn't know it would be this way.

In Europe dance music is mainstream in the way Hip-Hop is mainstream in America. Once these two musical styles started to notice each other it got interesting. How did we get to this point? Southern club based Hip-Hop has danceable arrangements and electronic based drums and synths. Once southern producers and rappers exhausted the basic sound pallet of the genre, where did they turn? The natural direction was Dance Music since it is known for it's incredible synth work and bass.

After these two musical styles mergedm, they splintered in to two camps. First the pop-ish house type track with Hip-Hop MC's. Think Flo Rida, Pitbull ect. Then we have the other offspring. Trap! Taking the already established blueprint of Southern Hip-Hop and fusing it with Dutch Electro and Dubstep sounds. What do you get? Well if all goes well, You get lots of swagger and character. With heavy bass and modulated Electro leads, what's not to love?

Let's get back to twerking (well, not literally). What goes well with the bass-heavy, danceable sound of Southern Hip-Hop? Cars with nice systems and a pretty girl to dance along to the music. Inject this into super cookie cutter suburbia and you get "Girls Gone Wild" type activities. That's right folks middle America is twerking!
